Senior Front-end Developer

Melbourne (Australia), Full-time, Hybrid workplace

Job Summary:

Fluent Cargo is a software startup working to liberate the data that underlies the logistics sector, making it easily available to all. We are seeking an experienced Front-end developer to join our team and help contribute to ongoing product and application development. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a React.js based tech stack, both in the browser and server-side.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our internal team to build visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces for our web applications.

  • Develop and maintain code using JavaScript (TypeScript/React/Next.js), HTML and CSS.

  • Work closely with the backend developers to ensure smooth integration of the frontend and backend systems.

  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that meets modern standards.

  • Troubleshoot and debug issues in our web applications.

  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.

Some of the things you might work on:

  • Building and maintaining SSR web components for our Applications and SEO optimised pages.

  • Implementing a payment subscription service to give users the ability to sign up for services in our application.

  • Building an interactive application to edit and visualise geographic and location data in a map-based interface.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years experience working as a Front-end developer

  • Proven experience in developing front-end applications using React/Next.js.

  • Strong understanding and experience using and maintaining theme-based CSS/React component libraries.

  • Experience building web applications with complex state and session management requirements.

  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and web application architecture.

  • Experience with version control tools such as Git.

  • Familiarity with CMS platforms such as DatoCMS / Contentful etc

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Familiarity with databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL is a bonus.

  • Familiarity with AWS (hosting and deployment pipelines) is a bonus.
